Poha dhokla is a very soft and spongy dish made from Poha (beaten rice), Rava (semolina), besan (gram flour), and curd.
Mainly, dhokla is prepared from besan or from soaked chana dal and rice but in this recipe, I have made dhokla using poha. This is very easy to make and instant recipe and is a great option for kids tiffin.
This poha dhokla tastes delicious after tempering with mustard seeds, cumin, sesame seeds, and curry leaves.

Ingredients
For Dhokla
1 cup Poha (beaten rice), ½ cup Besan(gram flour), ½ cup Rava (semolina), 1 teaspoon crushed green chili, ½ teaspoon crushed ginger, ½ cup sour curd, ½ teaspoon sugar, 1 ½ teaspoon Eno (fruit salt), 2 cups water or as required.
For Tempering
2 tablespoon oil, ½ teaspoon mustard seeds, ½ teaspoon cumin seeds, ½ teaspoon sesame seeds, 5-6 curry leaves, 2 teaspoon coriander leaves.
How to make Poha Dhokla
1. Take 1 cup poha and add it to the grinding jar.
2. Coarsely grind the poha. Don’t make a fine powder.
3. In a mixing bowl, take ground poha, ½ cup Rava, ½ cup besan, and ½ cup sour curd.
4. Add 2 cups of water.
5. Start whisking to make a lumps free batter.
6. Also, add 1 teaspoon crushed green chili, ½ teaspoon crushed ginger, ¼ teaspoon turmeric, ½ teaspoon sugar, and salt to taste.
7. Mix all the ingredients very well and keep aside for 10 minutes.
8. Meanwhile, add 2 -3 cups water in the steamer.
9. Also, grease the plate with oil.
10. Now add 1 ½ teaspoon Eno fruit salt in the dhokla batter and whisk gently. If the batter looks thick, add ½ cup water before adding Eno fruit salt.
11. Pour the dhokla batter in a greased plate and place it in the steamer.
12. Cover and steam for 10 to 15 minutes. For the first 5 minutes, steam the dhokla on a high flame and then turn the flame to medium.
13. After 10 minutes insert the toothpick in dhokla. If it comes out clean, dhokla is ready.
14. Remove the dhokla from the steamer and cut them into square pieces.
Tempering Dhokla
1. Add 2 tablespoon oil in a pan and add ½ teaspoon mustard seeds and let them crackle.
2. Further, add ½ teaspoon cumin seeds, ½ teaspoon sesame seeds, and 6-7 curry leaves. Stir and fry for a minute on medium flame.
3. Pour this tempering on dhokla. Make sure you spread the tempering evenly on dhokla.
4. Lastly, sprinkle 2 teaspoon chopped coriander leaves.
5. Instant Poha Dhokla is ready to serve.
Suggestion
1. You can steam the dhokla in kadhai/pan also. Add water in a kadhai, place a stand and then place dhokla tin on that stand. Cover and cook for 15 -20 minutes.
2. If your curd is not sour, use ¾ cup curd instead of ½ cup.
3. Also, you can garnish the poha dhokla with freshly grated coconut.
