Garlic naan recipe | Tawa naan recipe with detailed photos. Garlic naan or Tawa Naan is the most favorite Indian flatbread recipe made with all-purpose flour, yeast and flavored with garlic.

This garlic naan can be served with your favorite lentil dish such as dal, rajma or with curry and dry vegetables. Generally naan are cooked in tandoor. But in this garlic naan recipe we are using Tawa/Griddle to make restaurant style naan.

This delicious garlic naan tastes fabulous when served with Kaju Paneer Masala, Dal Makhani, Garlic Mushroom, Paneer Butter Masala, Paneer Lababdar, Rajma Masala, Paneer Lauki Kofta Curry, and Paneer Bhurji

Ingredients


2 cups all-purpose flour (Maida), 1 teaspoon instant dry yeast, ½ cup lukewarm milk, 1 teaspoon sugar, 1  teaspoon oil, Water for kneading, Salt to taste, 2 teaspoon grated/minced Garlic, 2-3 teaspoon coriander leaves, ¼ teaspoon Kasuri Methi ( Dry Fenugreek leaves) optional, 2 teaspoon oil or butter

How to make Dough


1. In a bowl take ½  cup lukewarm milk and add 1 teaspoon sugar and stir until the sugar gets dissolved.

2. Now add 1 teaspoon instant dry yeast and stir until dissolved. Cover the bowl and keep aside for 7 to 10 minutes to activate the yeast.

3. After 10 minutes yeast gets activated.

4. In a large mixing bowl combine 2 cups all-purpose flour (Maida), activated yeast, and salt.

5. Mix all ingredients and make a soft dough by adding water. Now add  1 teaspoon oil and knead.

6. Cover the dough and keep aside for 1 hour to raise the dough.

7. After 1-hour dough raised doubled in size.


How to make Garlic  Naan


1. In a bowl take  2 teaspoons grated or minced garlic, 2 teaspoon oil or butter, 2-3 teaspoon coriander leaves, and ¼ teaspoon Kasuri methi(optional) and mix all the ingredients gently.

2. Punch the dough and kneed for 1 to 2 minutes. Now Spread some all-purpose flour on rolling board. Take a small dough ball and rolled oval shape naan.

3. Spread garlic topping on all over the naan and slightly roll it again. Make sure that toppings stick to the naan.

4. Flip the naan and apply some water on it. ( apply water on the opposite side of garlic topping)

5. Heat the Tawa (Griddle) and put the naan on it. Put the water coated side down. Cook naan on medium-high flame for 1-2 minutes until you can see the bubbles on naan.

6. Now turn the flame on high, flip the tawa upside down and roast the naan on direct flame.Roast the naan for a couple of minutes until it gets completely cooked on all sides or until brown. Then remove the naan from the griddle (tawa).

7. Apply butter on naan or serve naan as it is without applying oil or butter. Restaurant-style garlic naan is ready to serve.

Note


1. Do not use non-stick Tawa (Griddle) it will slide down the naan when you flip tawa upside down on flame.

2. Make sure that there is no oil/butter on the rolling board when you roll next naan on it. If you roll naan on oily board it will not stick to the Tawa. Hence, use a separate plate for flipping, and applying water on naan.
