Jeera Aloo is a vrat special recipe and is generally served during the fasting period of Navratri, Ekadashi, Chaturthi, Mahashivratri or in the month of Shraavana. Jeera aloo is the best food to eat in those fasting days as potato is a great source of carb which gives you loads of energy.
This easy to make jeera aloo recipe is prepared by using boiled potatoes, jeera (cumin), green chilli and other few ingredients. Also, adding lemon juice and sugar in this recipe gives it a yummy tangy flavour.
You can also serve this jeera aloo with roti, paratha or as a side dish with rice.

Ingredients
4-5 medium-sized potatoes (aloo)
1 ½ teaspoon cumin seeds (jeera)
2 finely chopped green chillies
½ teaspoon red chilli powder (Lal Mirch powder)
½ teaspoon lemon juice
¼ teaspoon sugar
Salt to taste
3 tablespoons oil
2-3 teaspoon finely chopped coriander leaves
How to make Jeera Aloo for fast
1. Take 4-5 boiled potatoes. Here, I have boiled potatoes in a pressure cooker for 3-4 whistles.
2. Peel and chopped the potatoes in cubes.
3. Heat the pan with 3 tablespoons of oil and add 1 ½ teaspoon cumin seeds.
4. Fry cumin till it crackles.
5. Add 2 finely chopped green chillies and sauté for a minute.
6. Turn the flame on low and add ½ teaspoon red chilli powder.
7. Now add boiled potato cubes.
8. Mix the Potatoes very well. Make sure potatoes get coated with jeera.
9. Add salt to taste and mix well.
10. Further, add ½ teaspoon lemon juice.
11. Now add ¼ teaspoon sugar and stir gently.
12. Lastly, add 2 teaspoon finely chopped coriander leaves.
13. Simple and tasty Jeera aloo is ready to serve.
Suggestion
1. You can add coarsely ground peanut.
2. Boiled the potatoes only for 3-4 whistles. Don’t make them mushy.
3. When you prepare jeera aloo in a normal day except fasting, you can add coriander powder, chaat masala and ginger in it.
